Podcast notes for broken show — and a hiatus announcement.

Shelly and I tried to record a show last night, but technical difficulties kept the audio from being laid to track.  While I hope to potentially have a guest host sit in this weekend to fill in the content-gap, there are no promises.

In the interim, here’s the link list containing the stories we were to cover.

If I’m able to get a remote co-host’s audio put to track, expect a posting on either Sunday or Monday.

Otherwise, here’s the link list.  We’ll be back on the air as soon as we’re able.  Apologies for the inconvenience.

Introduction:

After a long wait, many starts, stops, fits, and restarts: finally… a new podcast.  Much has happened since this show has last fired up the “ON AIR” sign.  We’ve invaded four (or is it five?) new nations; receded mildly a front in the Iraq War; expanded the Afghanistan War; started murdering lotsa people in Pakistan with drones and missles; we’ve seen QE1 and QE2; and TARP has been expanded under the Obama junta (among many other horrible things!).  Plenty has stayed the same, though: we still torture; Gitmo’s still open; the political parties are corrupt; Goldman-Sachs still has operatives planted all over the place; and gold and silver prices keep risingrisingrising!

“The Tyranny of Government Courts and Prisons”

Murray N. Rothbard | April 12, 2011

Compulsory labor permeates our legal and judicial structure. Thus, much-venerated judicial procedure rests upon coerced testimony. Since it is axiomatic to libertarianism that all coercion — in this case, all coerced labor — against everyone except convicted criminals be eliminated, this means that compulsory testimony must be abolished as well. In recent years, it is true, the courts have been alive to the Fifth Amendment protection that no alleged criminal be forced to testify against himself — to provide the material for his own conviction. The legislatures have been significantly weakening this protection by passing immunity laws, offering immunity from prosecution if someone will testify against his fellows — and, furthermore, compelling the witness to accept the offer and testify against his associates. But compelling testimony from anyone for any reason is forced labor — and, furthermore, is akin to kidnapping, since the person is forced to appear at the hearing or trial and is then forced to perform the labor of giving testimony. The problem is not only the recent immunity laws; the problem is to eliminate all coerced testimony, including the universal subpoenaing of witnesses to a crime, and then forcing them to testify. In the case of witnesses, there is no question whatever of their being guilty of a crime, so the use of compulsion against them — a use that no one has questioned until now — has even less justification than compelling testimony from accused criminals.

Introduction – Episode XXI:

Notes to show(s): Apologies for the delay with both episodes.  To make up for the delay on episode XXI, we’re posting episode XXII the day after we recorded it, as well as a free bonus segment!  It’s an interview with Peter Schiff discussing the economy.  All great stuff!  Episode XXI discusses the economic meltdown, etc.  Episode XXII discusses Election 2008 and the coronation of our new messianic Dictator-in-Chief, Obama!  Though, rest assured, we’d crap just as much on McCain if he were (s)elected Fuhrer-in-Chief… but because we’re non-partisan around here (well, except for our support of Ron Paul), everyone’s fair game!  Enjoy the show, stock up on guns, buy some storable foods and gold/silver, and get ready!  Things are going to get really nasty–the Rockefellers and Brzezinski demand it so!

Introduction:

Note to show: Apologies for the late posting, but it has been a busy week.  Nonetheless, there will be a new podcast in relatively short order to make up for it (recorded 24 October 2008, tonight).  This show, recorded approximately a week ago, still hits home on a lot of important topics.  Enjoy!  And we’ll soon be updating the website again.  Things have been tough on my end lately, but they’re slowly starting to improve.  Thanks for your patience otherwise.  — M.

Note to show: Please pardon the cursing.  But, also, please take into account the economics information that is discussed… this craziness is only getting more horrible!  Call your Congressperson!  Say ‘no’ to the bailout!  Thanks, Kevin, for coming out and giving your analysis of the current situation.  And pardon us, again, for Kevin’s mic volumes.  We still haven’t figured out what the deal is for Mic. #03.

Learning About the State

Llewellyn H. Rockwell, Jr. | September 24, 2008

What we’ve seen in the last week is the state at work – and by the state, I do not mean a particular set of leaders. If we watch carefully, we can gain insight into what the state is and why our fundamental problem extends far above and below the political party system.

The moment is complicated by the upcoming election, so some people are distracted by the circus of McCain vs. Obama and all the characters associated with that silly little battle. What they are looking at is really the veneer. It is a covering designed to prevent you from seeing what the state is and why it matters.

Congressman warns middle class in danger of being wiped out, says Congress is oblivious and Fed has no clue

Steve Watson | September 18, 2008

Congressman Ron Paul has issued a stinging address concerning the financial crisis in which he outlines how the current economic problems, created via malinvestment and shift to a debt based economy, are now being mismanaged by private interests in secret.

What’s more he says he is not sure the Federal Reserve has any idea what to do next and that the Congress is totally oblivious to the whole sorry state of affairs – a cocktail of elements he warns puts the middle class of America in serious jeopardy.

“Today we had a lot of financial fireworks in the markets, a lot of things are going on, and I think we are in the middle of something very big.” the Congressman stated.

Subverting Democracy Through Electoral Fraud

Stephen Lendman | September 15, 2008

In America and elsewhere, electoral fraud isn’t new nor should anyone be surprised it occurs. But as technology improves, so are better ways found to pre-arrange outcomes. It’s easier than ever today so more time, effort, money and other resources are earmarked for it. The result…

The Social Imperative of Sound Money

Llewellyn H. Rockwell, Jr. | September 15, 2008

This past week, the government announced that it would take Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, the mortgage giants, under conservatorship, which is a nice way of saying that they will be nationalized.

We don’t use the word nationalize any more. We can try an experiment and read the new term “conservatorship” back into history. In fact, we might say that Stalin and Lenin put Russia’s industries under a kind of conservatorship. Or we might say that Mao pushed a kind of land conservatorship, or that Hitler’s policy was one of national conservatorship. Marx’s little book could be re-titled: The Conservatorship Manifesto.

You see, the government keeps having to make up new names for these things because the old policies, which were not that different in content, failed so miserably. The old terms become discredited and new terms become necessary, in an effort to fool the public.

Obama Can’t Win Against Palin

Karl Rove | September 11, 2008

Of all the advantages Gov. Sarah Palin has brought to the GOP ticket, the most important may be that she has gotten into Barack Obama’s head. How else to explain Sen. Obama’s decision to go one-on-one against “Sarah Barracuda,” captain of the Wasilla High state basketball champs?

It’s a matchup he’ll lose. If Mr. Obama wants to win, he needs to remember he’s running against John McCain for president, not Mrs. Palin for vice president.

[Ed. Note from Mike: This is an obvious warning piece from the Elite telling who they plan to Crown. Rove’s a piece of shit, but he’s also got inside knowledge. Obamabots, you had your chance to send a message to the Establishment Elite, but instead you voted for a puppet. Here is Rove telling you that you voted wrong, and that Puppet B’s vote will be stolen for Puppet A’s vote. Just think: you could have voted for someone who wasn’t a puppet… but that would have required some sort of pre-requisite thought as well as turning off your television.  You, and we all, lose as a result.  Welcome to the Great Depression a la 2009.  Enjoy your stay in the bread lines.]

Bob Barr’s Campaign Manager Praises Bush and the Neocons

Kurt Nimmo | September 12, 2008

It should be obvious to all who pay attention — and sadly, not too many do — that the Bob Barr campaign is designed to rend what little cohesion and unity there is among third parties and candidates. It should be especially obvious after Russ Verney, Bob Barr’s campaign manager, gushed all over George Bush, telling us that Bush “showed incredible leadership as he stood atop a fire truck amidst the rubble of the twin towers to rally America,” that is to say rally America toward a unitary dictatorship.

How is it this guy runs Barr’s campaign? Barr is supposedly a Libertarian. As a Republican representative, he voted for the Patriot Act, asked the neocon Newt Gingrich to “design a World War II-style victory plan to save America’s children from illegal drugs,” and voted for the Iraq Resolution that has resulted thus far in over a million dead Iraqis.

Some Libertarian.

The Beginning of the Realignment of American Politics

John V. Walsh | September 12, 2008

No significant political movement takes place without breaking down old alliances and establishing new ones. And so it is with the press conference sponsored today by Ron Paul at the National Press Club. There he was joined by Ralph Nader (Independent), Chuck Baldwin (Constitutionalist) and Cynthia McKinney (Green), to take on the War Party Duopoly.

The Barr Campaign is Over
Bob Barr’s campaign for President fell off a cliff yesterday. It’s time for those who love liberty to redirect their resources elsewhere.

David F. Nolan | September 11, 2008

As of yesterday afternoon, Bob Barr’s Presidential campaign is effectively over. There were signs of serious trouble even before yesterday, but his “no-show” at Ron Paul’s Campaign for Liberty news conference — followed by an insulting suggestion that Ron should join Barr on the LP ticket in the VP slot — demonstrated just how out-of-touch the Barr campaign is, and how poor Barr’s vote total is likely to be.
